Article summary

With Securly Pass, an electronic hall pass system designed for K-12 schools, administrators and teachers finally have an easier way to issue and track hall passes. Pass helps admins and teachers track how many passes are in use and by whom to improve student accountability and shore up safety concerns.

While Pass can be used on its own, enabling the integration between Securly Pass and Securly Classroom helps teachers save time. The integration allows teachers to view active hall passes with badges. Both before and during class, teachers can view these badges and choose to interact with the passes.

Pass notifications within Classroom allow teachers to easily approve requests when they are the “departing from” location, without having to switch over to Pass.

The articles in this section will guide you in managing hall passes effectively from Securly Classroom.

Let’s start with going over how to view active hall passes before starting a class.

Notes on the Securly Pass integration

  • Pass request notifications will be sent to the teacher who the student requests the pass from in the Departing From field when they create a pass.
    • If a co-teacher is active in a class session, they will not recieve pass request notifications unless the student requests the pass from that co-teacher.
  • Pass badges (the icons in the bottom right corner of a student's card) will be shown to all teachers and co-teachers in that class session when the pass is approved.
  • The Pass integration applies to users in any role except for the Substitute Teacher role. This means that if a user is a technician or an admin, they’ll get notifications and interactions like a teacher does.
  • Securly Sync is not required for integration with Securly Pass to function properly. The only required information needed in both systems is user emails, as these emails must match to properly sync data and actions.
