The ASM Content users tab is used to manage users who need to receive user-assigned ASM Content on their devices (such as iBooks, which cannot be device-assigned like apps), but do not need to login to the Securly MDM console and who are not already listed in Apple School Manager. In most cases, both teachers and students will be listed in ASM, so this tab will not be used. These users were previously known as “VPP Users”.
To add an ASM Content User, click the Add ASM Content User button and complete the form.
| Entry field/Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| User ID | This is assigned by the system but can be changed. It will appear in the account list on the device. The user does not need to know this ID. |
| The user’s email address. | |
| First and Last Name | The user's name |
| Grade | The student grade (optional) |
| School | The school the user is assigned to. |
| Send email invite to accept ASM content | Checking this box will cause an email invitation to be sent to the user, asking them to accept content from the assigned ASM content locations. This is one of two methods of inviting the user to accept content. The other method is to send the invitation to the device, once the user is assigned to the device, and is the preferred method. Therefore, this checkbox is unchecked by default. |
| ASM Content Locations | Choose the ASM locations from which you want to be able to assign apps or other content to this user. The user will have to agree to accept content from each either through an email invitation or a device invitation. |
